Graduation Requirements
Students should be well aware of the graduation requirements for their respective departments or programs. Students who believe that their cases are not well represented here should consult their department heads before their final semester. Completion of the graduation requirements depends on the major and the degree pursued. Detailed information on the degree requirements are displayed in the table below:

※ For IDC Students majoring in ‘Carbon Neutral Energy Convergence’, major electives must include 3 courses (9 credits) among the common courses designated by the Graduate Program of Energy Convergence. Credits in parentheses must be earned from the courses of the Graduate School of Energy Convergence.
Graduation Requirements for the M.A.
- M.A. students should register at GSP for at least four (4) semesters unless they register for the early graduation program, the dual-degree program or the exchange program. Those who study abroad in the exchange program should register for at least three (3) semesters at GSP.
- A GPA of 2.7 or above at the time of graduation is required to be eligible for graduation. Those whose GPA of below 2.7 for the full academic year may take an additional course(s) in the 5th semester in order to obtain a GPA of 2.7 or above to become eligible for graduation. Otherwise, the students with lower than a 2.7 GPA will fail to complete the program and will not be able to receive their MA degree.
- Those who fail to maintain a GPA of 2.7 or above for two consecutive semesters will be expelled.
Graduation Requirements for the Ph.D.
- A passing grade must be achieved on the comprehensive major examination.
- The dissertation defense (evaluation) must be passed.
- At least one paper must be published in a journal listed on either the SSCI, SCOPUS, Korea Citation Index (KCI).
- A GPA of 2.7 or above at the time of graduation is necessary to be eligible for graduation. Those whose GPA falls below 2.7 for the full academic year may take an additional course(s) in the 5th semester in order to obtain a GPA of 2.7 or above to become eligible for graduation.
- Those who fail to maintain a GPA of 2.7 or above for two consecutive semesters will be expelled.
Early Graduation Policy
- Students can graduate within three (3) regular academic semesters if they fulfill the following requirements:
- They have to maintained a GPA of 4.0 or higher upon application and completion of the third semester.
- They will have obtained 45 credits within three (3) semesters.
- Students will have completed at least 36 credits of GSP coursework out of a total of 45 graduation credit
- How to apply
- Students must apply for early graduation in the first week of their third semester. The application form is available on the GSP website (http://gsp.khu.ac.kr/info/form.asp).
- Approval from the department head is required for early graduation application
