The Master of Arts in International Development and Consulting (MIDAC) is a unique partnership program with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) which aims to train international development consultants who supply expertise to development projects coordinated by development agencies such as KOICA, Korea Exim-Bank, UN agencies, and the World Bank. Understanding IDC

This is a topical, theoretical course on international development studies. The course will expose students to the political, economic, social and environmental dimensions of development through a multidisciplinary approach.

Economics of Development

The purpose of this course is to explore both the causes of poverty and prosperity among individuals and nations, and the nature of economic growth and development.

Project Monitoring and Evaluation

The course aims to study principles and techniques used to effectively monitor development projects. As well, the course discusses criteria to evaluate projects and their application to different sectors.

Project Cycle Management

This course is designed to provide students with a practical knowledge of the methods of project/program cycle management: the skills and tools used in the public sector to manage aid projects through project programming, identification, design, appraisal, implementation and evaluation.

International Marketing & Management

The course focuses on business level marketing strategy and uses the marketing planning process as the framework for understanding the integration and coordination of marketing decisions.

Consulting Skills: Career Visioning

This course is designed to provide the students with an opportunity to apply what they have learned before and to experience working as professional consultants for international development projects.

Consulting Skills: Professional Training

This course is designed to provide the students with an opportunity to learn and to experience working as professional international development consultant with multilateral development banks (MDBs).

Consulting Skills: Capacity Development

This course is a practicum designed to allow students to use their consulting skills by producing a consulting service on development issues. Students are expected to expand and elaborate their capacity through drills.

English Writing and Presentation Skills

This course covers the core academic skills required for successful graduate study. Particular emphasis will be placed on the organization and skills needed to write professional reports and academic research papers. Attention will also be paid to improving students¡¯ academic presentation skills beyond their current ability.

Development and Social Policy in Developing Countries

This course delivers two benefits: (1) a greater understanding of the factors, policies, and programs that affect growth and social welfare in developing countries; and (2) practice in synthesizing these factors, policies, and programs into a Country Partnership Strategy (CPS).

Strategies of Development Cooperation

This course discusses important contemporary topics pertaining to international development cooperation. It covers various sectors and topics such as information and communication technology (ICT), econometrics, the impacts of aid, the selectivity of aid, and development financing.

Social Survey Methodology

The purpose of the course is to provide a broad overview of the many aspects of survey research methodology, which include design of the survey, sampling, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

Business Consulting Skill

The course is designed to improve the ability to formulate professional knowledge and to influence individuals or organizations through the effective delivery of the knowledge. These abilities can be modified and adapted for development consulting.


The course consists of a series of lectures, discussions and presentations. Not only will the theoretical dimension of PPP be presented, but also the filing and analysis of actual cases will be given considerable attention, in light of the freshness of these concepts.

Development Project Management

The course mainly deals with the method of planning, appraisal and evaluation of development projects and programs. Our class aims to nurture future development consultants and practitioners.

Managerial Statistics

The purpose of the course is to introduce the basic concepts and approaches of statistics and apply them to the real world. The course will particularly emphasize data analysis skills.
